Prosecutors have brought multiple charges against a 20-year-old man from Tampere for a series of sexual crimes against children. The man is charged with child rape, 29 instances of sexual assault against a child, assault, 18 counts of illegal threats, and two counts of distributing images depicting children in sexual acts, among other offenses. The case is being processed collectively in the Pirkanmaa District Court with two prosecutors handling it. The accused allegedly lured children through social media. The investigation concluded in January, revealing that the suspect had met two children. During one encounter, he engaged in sexual intercourse with one child, leading to the charge of child rape. In another encounter, there was inappropriate sexual touching, which is classified as sexual assault against a child. The victims were aged between 12 and 15 at the time of the offenses. Of the alleged offenses, 30 are categorized as online crimes, indicating the use of digital platforms to target minors. This highlights concerns over child safety online and the vulnerability of young individuals in digital spaces. The legal proceedings will be closely watched given the severity of the charges and the impact on the community.
