Tomašević Surpasses Bandić Again: Here’s How Many More People He Plans to Hire in the City
Zagreb's Mayor Tomislav Tomašević has announced plans to hire an additional 209 employees in the City administration, surpassing former mayor Milan Bandić's hiring rates.
The City of Zagreb, led by Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and the Možemo party, is set to increase the number of jobs within the City administration. Currently, there are just over 3,000 employees, and the new hiring plan aims to bring in 209 more by 2026, increasing the total to 3,212. This new hiring initiative significantly exceeds the former mayor Milan Bandić's employment figures from 2021.
Tomašević's employment plan for 2026 stipulates the necessary positions and the number of required civil servants and clerks to be employed on a permanent basis. The plan emphasizes the need for a diverse range of qualified personnel, with a particular focus on those holding graduate degrees, of which 153 positions will be designated for this qualification alone. The hiring strategy reflects a comprehensive approach to staffing essential municipal offices.
The City administration's most pressing needs will be met in various areas, including the City Office for Local Self-Government, Traffic, Communal Services, Civil Protection, and Security, which together will see the recruitment of 45 new employees in addition to the existing staff of 606. This commitment to expanding the workforce illustrates Tomašević’s strategic initiative to enhance city services and governance, potentially leading to improved operational efficiency in the public sector.
