Construction on a new border barrier between Poland and Belarus is set to begin soon, although delays have occurred due to severe weather conditions.
In the Podlaskie Voivodeship, construction efforts for a new border barrier with Belarus are slated to commence imminently, as reported by a local journalist at RMF FM. The proposed structure is designed to be four meters high, featuring a mesh fence reinforced with posts and guy wires, and topped with coils of barbed wire. Local Border Guard Commander SÅ‚awomir Klekotka emphasized that the project's timeline has been extended, allowing more time for resources to reach the area, which is experiencing logistical challenges.
The new barrier's construction had initially been planned to be completed by spring, but has faced significant delays due to extreme winter conditions, including prolonged freezing temperatures that have hampered progress. Military engineering units are now collaborating with the Border Guard as they develop investment plans to facilitate the construction.
