Mikis Theodorakis, memory in the digital age
An exhibition honoring the legacy of Mikis Theodorakis will open in Sparta, Greece, showcasing his impact on contemporary Greek culture.
The Cultural Foundation of Piraeus Group, the Municipality of Sparta, and the Friends of Music Association are co-hosting a traveling exhibition titled "Mikis Theodorakis, memory in the digital age" at the Olive and Greek Olive Oil Museum in Sparta. Scheduled to open on March 13, 2026, at 19:00, this exhibition aims to honor the memory and works of Theodorakis, a creator who left an indelible mark on modern Greek culture. It serves to preserve collective memory by creating connections between younger generations and the past.
This exhibition will for the first time gather all digital tools developed by the Association and the Lillian Voudouri Music Library, aiming to make Theodorakis's work accessible to everyone. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore his multifaceted artistic journey through rare archival materials, thus deepening their understanding of his influence and contributions to music and culture.
Furthermore, the exhibition is designed not only to celebrate Theodorakisβ enduring legacy but also to engage the community of Sparta and its visitors by bridging the gap between the past and present.
