The Norwegian Tax Administration has issued a warning to the public regarding a new scam tactic where individuals receive phone calls asking them to pay owed taxes via the mobile payment service Vipps. Ragna Fossen, head of security and preparedness at the Tax Administration, emphasized that the agency will never contact individuals by phone to demand tax payments through this method. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant, especially as tax season approaches.
