Gulf Defenses Respond to Wave of Iranian Missiles and Drones
Gulf countries have reported intercepting Iranian missile and drone attacks, following ongoing tensions in the region.
Since early Wednesday, several Gulf countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Bahrain, have faced missile and drone attacks launched from Iran. These assaults mark the continuation of heightened tensions in the region, now escalating into the twelfth day of confrontations between Tehran and its adversaries, prominently the United States and Israel. The Gulf states have reported numerous interceptions and ongoing defense actions in response to this increase in aggression.
In response to these security threats, Qatar's Ministry of Defense confirmed the successful interception of missile strikes aimed at its territory. Following the threat, the Qatari Interior Ministry announced that the situation had stabilized but urged the populace to maintain vigilance and abide by security protocols. Meanwhile, the country elevated its security alert levels and advised residents to remain indoors and steer clear of windows during the attacks.
In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Defense reported intercepting and destroying seven ballistic missiles, six of which were targeted towards the Prince Sultan Air Base in the Al Khobar region, and one aimed at the Eastern Province. Additionally, officials announced the destruction of 22 drones that were intercepted in various locations, including Hafr Al Batin and Al Khobar. This defensive response aligns with the broader strategy of Gulf nations to safeguard their sovereignty amid increasing regional threats and underlines the importance of international alliances in facing such challenges.
