A 30,000-seat 'Dome Stadium' will be built at Jamsil Baseball Stadium... Completion in 2032

Seoul will construct the largest dome baseball stadium in South Korea at Jamsil Sports Complex, along with extensive exhibition and convention facilities, set to be completed by 2032.

Seoul is set to develop a massive new sports and exhibition complex around the Jamsil Sports Complex in Songpa-gu, which will feature the largest dome baseball stadium in the country. The project includes an exhibition and convention facility that will be 2.5 times larger than COEX, as well as a five-star hotel and a prime office building with views of the Han River. The city government has finalized negotiations with the leading private investment firm, Hanwha Construction, for this innovative 'sports and MICE' complex, reflecting a significant upgrade in the area's facilities.

The project, which will occupy around 350,000 square meters, includes plans for a 30,000-seat dome baseball stadium, which will serve as the home grounds for the LG Twins and Doosan Bears during the professional baseball season. Additionally, it will transform into a venue for concerts and major events during the offseason. To accommodate improved transportation access, a vertiport for urban air mobility (UAM) is also planned, allowing travel from Gimpo Airport to Jamsil in approximately 15 minutes. This ambitious development highlights Seoul's commitment to modernizing its sporting infrastructure and enhancing the thriving MICE industry in the region.

The total investment for this extensive project is estimated at around 3.3 trillion won, which will be funded through private investments. As the construction progresses from 2027 to 2031, home games for LG and Doosan will temporarily take place at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium. This strategic development is expected to position Seoul as a key player in both the sports and convention sectors, potentially boosting tourism and economic growth in the area.
