Iran Launches New Attacks on Israel and Persian Gulf States
Iran has conducted new missile and drone attacks on Israel and several Persian Gulf countries, described as among the heaviest since the war began.
Iran's armed forces executed a series of missile and drone strikes aimed at Israel and various Persian Gulf nations on Wednesday night. According to the Iranian news agency Tasnim, which has close ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, these assaults were characterized as the 'most intense and damaging' wave of attacks since the onset of the ongoing conflict. The Iranian government claimed to have fired missiles at cities in Israel over a duration of three hours, marking a significant escalation in hostilities.
Reports from Israeli media, including The Times of Israel, indicated that the missiles launched by Iran were either intercepted or landed in uninhabited areas. Sirens signaling air raids and subsequent explosions were reported in Jerusalem, and Channel 12 in Israel stated that several individuals in Tel Aviv were injured as a result of the attacks. Additionally, the Israeli Defense Forces engaged in defense measures to protect against the incoming threats, showcasing the urgency and scale of the response to Iran's operations.
In a parallel response, Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry announced the interception of seven ballistic missiles and seven drones across various regions of the kingdom, with two drones reportedly heading towards an oil facility. Kuwait's Defense Ministry also confirmed the interception of four drones within its territory, while one drone crashed in an open area. The ongoing hostilities underscore rising tensions in the region and the potential for further escalation, affecting not only those directly involved but also the broader geopolitical landscape.
