'How many centimeters can one open their eyes and mouth, they set such conditions as well,' Akhilesh's jab
Akhilesh Yadav criticizes the Uttar Pradesh government for imposing unreasonable restrictions on an event organized by Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati in Lucknow.
In Lucknow, a major program titled 'Gau Raksha' is being organized by Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, which has received permission from the administration with 26 conditions attached. Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP), has latched onto this issue, criticizing the government for implementing what he perceives as irrational restrictions. He remarked that such limitations reflect a sign of a weak government, describing them as decisions made with 'opposing wisdom in destructive times.'
The district administration issued strict guidelines for the event, which include prohibitions against delivering inflammatory speeches against any religion, caste, or language. Additionally, it is instructed that no procession or decorative journey can take place without prior permission, and adherence to COVID regulations, such as wearing masks, is mandated. These regulations seem particularly stringent given the context of organizing a religious event, raising concerns among political figures like Yadav.
Yadav's pointed remarks and sharp critique of the government's approach highlight an ongoing political struggle in Uttar Pradesh, showcasing the tension between the ruling government and the opposition. His comments underscore a broader concern regarding the restrictions placed on public events and freedom of expression, and they reflect the complexities of political maneuvering in the state.
