FBI arrests alleged MS-13 member accused in El Salvador pastor’s killing
The FBI has arrested a suspected MS-13 gang member, Danny Antonio Granados-Garcia, wanted for the murder of a pastor in El Salvador while he was in Waterbury, Connecticut.
On Tuesday, the FBI arrested Danny Antonio Granados-Garcia, a man alleged to be a member of the notorious MS-13 gang, who was wanted in connection with the murder of a pastor in El Salvador. Granados-Garcia, a Salvadoran national, was located in Waterbury, Connecticut, despite having an active arrest warrant from El Salvador for aggravated homicide. His capture highlights the international reach of law enforcement agencies and their collaboration, particularly in addressing issues of transnational crime.
The arrest was facilitated by the FBI's Legal Attaché in San Salvador, which played a key role in identifying Granados-Garcia as a fugitive. In addition to the El Salvadorian warrant, he was also subject to an Interpol Blue Notice, which helps locate and apprehend fugitives crossing international borders. The pastor he allegedly murdered was reportedly a relative of an El Salvadorian police officer, indicating potential implications for the local law enforcement community and raising concerns about gang violence and retaliation in El Salvador.
After his arrest, Granados-Garcia was transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody to facilitate his return to El Salvador for prosecution. This case not only underscores the ongoing challenges posed by MS-13 and related gangs but also emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in fighting such criminal enterprises that extend beyond national borders.
