Gasoline price rises to R$ 7.49 in Salvador
Gasoline prices have increased in Bahia, reaching R$ 7.49 per liter in Salvador after a 7.5% adjustment.
Gasoline prices have risen again in Bahia, with a new increase being implemented for drivers in the state on Tuesday, October 10. This marks the second price hike within just five days. The adjustment, reported by Acelen, the company operating the Mataripe Refinery, indicates a 7.5% increase, pushing the price per liter from R$ 2.8845 to R$ 3.1018 for wholesalers. The current gasoline prices are the highest observed since October 2, 2025, when fuel was priced at R$ 2.8940.
In Salvador, gas stations are now charging as much as R$ 7.49 for common gasoline, which is more than R$ 0.50 higher than the price following the earlier hike on March 5 of the same year. This sharp increase is indicative of the broader economic pressures affecting fuel prices in Brazil. Various neighborhoods in Salvador reflect a wide range of fuel costs; for instance, prices vary from R$ 6.73 at Avenida Paralela to R$ 7.49 at Pinto de Aguiar, with other districts like Patamares and Juracy MagalhΓ£es showing prices around R$ 6.99 to R$ 7.13.
The repeated increases in gasoline prices are causing concern among consumers in Bahia as they grapple with rising transportation costs, which can have ripple effects on the prices of goods and services. This situation underlines the ongoing challenges faced in Brazil's energy market and could possibly trigger further discussions about government interventions or changes in energy policy to alleviate the financial burden on citizens.
