In the wake of a significant Court of Appeal ruling, governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and allies of the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike are reportedly progressing towards a reconciliation effort intended to stabilize the party. This effort includes discussions on forming a unified Caretaker Committee or convening a unity convention, which aims to avert a potential collapse of the party as it gears up for the 2027 general elections. Both factions are currently engaged in extensive meetings to negotiate the terms and framework necessary for such reconciliation, striving to unify their efforts.

Key PDP leaders have requested confidentiality concerning the talks, indicating the sensitive nature of the discussions underway. Prominent figures such as Acting Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman, Acting National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki have urged party stakeholders to prioritize collaboration over individual ambitions.
