Like the FED, on the banks of the Paraná: the independent publishers fair Vecina debuts in Rosario

The first edition of the Vecina fair in Rosario will feature independent publishers from across Argentina, offering workshops, talks, and concerts this weekend.

This weekend, from 15:00 to 21:00, the first edition of the Vecina fair will take place at the Centro de Expresiones Contemporáneas, located along the Paraná River in Rosario, Argentina. The event boasts participation from over ninety independent publishers from all over the country, providing an opportunity for local literary talents to showcase their works to a wider audience. Entry to the fair is free, making it accessible to all attendees, and promises to be a celebration of independent literature and culture.

In addition to the publisher showcases, the fair will feature various activities including workshops tailored for both children and adults, literary talks with acclaimed authors, and live music concerts, ensuring a diverse offering that caters to different interests. Notable participants include well-known Argentine author Beatriz Vignoli and Japanese philosopher Jun Fujita Hirose, highlighting the event's international appeal. With culinary offerings also included, the fair is designed as a community gathering place for those interested in exploring new literary voices.

The organization of Feria Vecina is spearheaded by a dedicated group, including Bernardo Bonacalza and Nicolás Manzi, and is supported by the Municipality of Rosario. This collaboration is indicative of a growing recognition and promotion of independent publishing in Argentina, which faces challenges from larger publishing houses. The event serves not only as a platform for local writers and publishers but also as a vehicle for cultural exchange and community engagement, aiming to foster a love for reading and literature among attendees.
