Thiago Gomes, a councilman from Crato, Ceará, was arrested on October 10 for violating a protective measure issued after allegations of domestic violence against his ex-partner. The arrest was made following the execution of a preventive arrest warrant by the Civil Police from the Delegacia de Defesa da Mulher (Women’s Defense Police Station) in Crato. Gomes is under investigation for reportedly invading the victim's home and assaulting her, an incident that raises serious concerns about the enforcement of protective measures in domestic violence cases.

The police reported that this arrest follows a previous incident on February 6 of this year, where Gomes was involved in a domestic violence case leading to the issuance of the protective order. At 33 years old, he has a criminal record that includes charges related to domestic violence such as slander and threats. His legal team has announced that he will appear for a custody hearing on October 11, during which they expect to provide explanations regarding the accusations against him and assert his defense.
