Senate approves the creation of new positions in the Executive Branch; impact is R$ 5.3 billion
The Brazilian Senate has approved a project that will create 17,800 positions in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services.
On Tuesday, October 10, the Brazilian Senate approved a significant bill to create 17,800 new positions within the Ministry of Education (MEC) and the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI). This development, which is yet to be sanctioned by President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva, is projected to incur a cost of R$ 5.3 billion by the year 2026, as confirmed by both the MGI and Randolfe Rodrigues, the government leader in Congress and the proposal's rapporteur.
Senator Rodrigues emphasized the positive impact of this legislation, stating that the new positions will benefit approximately 270,000 civil servants. The initiative aims to introduce the role of Technical Analyst of the Executive Branch (ATE), which will allow professionals with higher education in various fields to be classified under a unified career framework. This move is intended to streamline management processes and enhance the effectiveness of public service jobs.
In addition to creating new roles, the bill also entails salary adjustments for various government positions, including those for medical and veterinary professionals who are classified as technical administrative staff in education. Furthermore, salary increases are set for personnel in the tax and customs services of the Federal Revenue and fiscal auditing sectors, which highlights the government's intention to enhance the quality of employment in public administration and attract skilled professionals to these critical areas.
