The Liberal Party supports a Conservative proposal that would permit Canada Post to deliver alcohol to consumers across provincial lines in Canada.
In a significant move to address the barriers of alcohol distribution in Canada, Liberal officials are endorsing a private member’s bill introduced by Conservative MP Dan Albas. The bill aims to amend the Canada Post Act, which currently restricts Canada Post from shipping alcoholic beverages directly to consumers across provincial borders. Instead, the law only allows alcohol to be shipped from one business to another, thus limiting the access of consumers to various provincial products.
