Elderly man dies after being hit by a car following an accident in Piracicaba, says Civil Police

An elderly man was fatally injured after being struck by a vehicle in Piracicaba, Brazil, following a collision between cars.

An elderly man who was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle following a car accident in Piracicaba has succumbed to his injuries. According to the police report, the incident occurred on the morning of Monday, October 9, at the intersection of José Pinto de Almeida and São José streets in the Cidade Alta neighborhood. He was admitted to the Hospital Fornecedores de Cana, where he was kept in a grave condition and intubated until his death on Monday night.

The initial crash involved two vehicles and resulted in injury to one of the drivers. The vehicle that hit the elderly man also struck two women who were waiting at a bus stop, pushing them against the gate of a nearby church. While the elderly man suffered severe injuries that ultimately led to his death, the two pedestrians sustained only minor injuries and were taken to the Hospital Fornecedores de Cana for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was also taken to Piracicamirim's UPA for medical attention.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers present in urban areas, particularly at bus stop locations where pedestrians are vulnerable to road traffic incidents. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine fault and prevent future occurrences of similar incidents.
