Elon Musk Doubles His Fortune and Remains the Richest Man in the World, According to Forbes List

Elon Musk has been named the world's richest man for the second consecutive year, according to Forbes' latest list, with a fortune of $839 billion.

Elon Musk continues to hold the title of the richest man in the world for the second year running, as reported in the latest Forbes list released on Tuesday. Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and the owner of X (formerly Twitter), has seen his net worth surge to $839 billion, a significant increase of 145% from the previous year’s $342 billion. This dramatic rise can be attributed to Musk's strategic decisions and achievements within his companies over the past year, which may also position him to become the world’s first trillionaire.

The period that enabled this immense growth for Musk was marked by his complex involvement with the Trump administration, his departure from that role, and a notable Tesla bonus approval in November. The Forbes billionaire list also set records this year, showcasing a total of 3,428 billionaires globally, which is an increase of 400 from 2025. The total wealth among these billionaires reached a staggering $20.1 trillion, a $4 trillion increase from the previous year, highlighting an ongoing economic expansion among the most affluent individuals.

Furthermore, the United States continues to dominate the billionaire landscape, boasting 989 billionaires, including 15 out of the 20 richest in the world. China follows with 610 billionaires, while India ranks third with 229. This distribution of wealth underlines the growing economic divides and raises questions about wealth concentration in the hands of a few, prompting discussions about future economic policies and wealth distribution mechanisms globally.
