The Civil Police of São Paulo is investigating a report of collective rape of a boy inside the bathroom of a state school in northern São Paulo.
The Civil Police of São Paulo have initiated an investigation following allegations of collective rape involving a boy in a state school bathroom. Four students, all under 18, have been identified as suspects in this serious incident, which reportedly occurred on February 27. The Department of Education, led by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, has expressed regret over the incident and condemned any form of abuse. They have also stated that the Regional Education Unit will conduct an inquiry into the school’s management actions concerning the events.
Upon learning of the allegations, the school's management promptly contacted the Tutelar Council and informed the parents of the involved students, resulting in the filing of a police report. The police revealed that the boy's mother noticed unusual behavior when he returned home from school that day, indicating that he entered his room immediately and avoided conversation, which raised her concerns. This behavior prompted her to investigate further, leading to the allegations.
The case highlights significant concerns regarding student safety and the handling of abuse allegations within educational institutions. As investigations proceed, there is a broader call for schools to implement stronger measures to ensure the well-being of students and address misconduct, particularly in environments meant to be safe for learning and development. This incident underscores the need for continued vigilance and support for victims of sexual violence, especially in school settings.
