The government supports the proposal to establish the foundation "Gors"
The Latvian government has approved a proposal to create a foundation for the management of the concert hall 'Gors' in Rēzekne, involving several governmental and local partners.
On Tuesday, the Latvian government expressed its support for a proposal from the Ministry of Culture to establish a foundation named 'Latgales vēstniecība 'Gors'' aimed at managing the concert hall in Rēzekne. This initiative indicates a collaborative effort among various institutions, including the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, the Rēzekne municipality, and concert management companies.
The establishment involves transferring the ownership of the concert hall located on Pils Street 4 in Rēzekne to the foundation on a no-cost lease basis for the foundation's duration. The municipality retains the property but cannot sell, mortgage, or encumber it while it is leased to the foundation. This arrangement highlights the municipality's commitment to preserving the concert hall's operational integrity while leveraging resources from the foundation.
Moreover, the foundation will be governed by a council composed of five representatives from the founding institutions and an executive board appointed through a public competition for a five-year term. With an annual revenue of approximately 2 million euros, the concert hall's funding will play a crucial role in supporting local cultural initiatives, including a municipal grant of 751,000 euros planned for 2026, backed by the State Culture Capital Foundation's financial support of 240,000 euros.
