SM league team snatches an effective duo from Sweden

Finnish SM-liiga team Hämeenlinna Pallokerho has signed two Canadian players, Connor MacEachern and Ethan De Jong, from the Swedish team Mora IK for the next season.

Hämeenlinna Pallokerho, an SM-liiga team from Finland, has made significant roster moves by acquiring two talented Canadian players, Connor MacEachern and Ethan De Jong, who previously played together at Mora IK in Sweden's second-tier hockey league. Both players are 26 years old and are expected to bring their offensive skills to HPK's lineup next season.

MacEachern stood out as the top scorer for Mora, recording 14 goals and 24 assists for a total of 38 points in 41 games during the regular season, showcasing his capability as a central forward. Meanwhile, De Jong excelled as the team's best goal scorer with 17 goals and 34 points across 51 games. Their impressive performances have helped Mora reach the quarterfinal stage of the ongoing playoffs.

In addition, MacEachern spent last season largely in the ECHL, where he scored 40 points in 41 games, while De Jong played in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors. Both players are anticipated to play pivotal roles for HPK in the upcoming season, suggesting a strategic effort by the team to enhance its competitive edge in the SM-liiga.
