The Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced its 'Steel Across America' tour to honor the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. This tour will feature a significant 16,000-pound steel beam salvaged from the wreckage of the World Trade Center, which will travel over 10,500 miles across the United States. CEO Frank Siller emphasized the importance of this initiative to ensure that American citizens remember the sacrifices made on that tragic day, which resulted in the loss of 2,977 lives.
The tour is set to commence on May 2 at Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan and will make a total of 35 stops across 21 states and the District of Columbia. The locations included in this poignant journey are key sites such as the Flight 93 Memorial, the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, and various Major League Baseball parks. Each stop will serve as a reminder of the impact of the attacks and will aim to foster remembrance and unity among communities.
The 'Steel Across America' tour not only plans to pay tribute to the lives lost but also strives to shine a light on the enduring spirit of American resilience and heroism. As the country reflects on the events of 9/11, this initiative serves as a call to action for Americans to come together in remembrance and recognition of sacrifices made by first responders and citizens during the crisis, underlining the ongoing fight to remember and honor those affected by the tragedy.
