Spring Temperature Record Broken – Here It Was Hottest

Finland has recorded the highest temperature of spring so far, with Kokemäki Tulkkila reporting +10.6 degrees Celsius.

Finland has experienced a notable weather event, breaking the spring temperature record this Tuesday, according to reports from the Finnish Meteorological Institute. The new record was established at the Kokemäki Tulkkila weather station, where temperature readings reached +10.6 degrees Celsius, marking the warmest temperature observed so far this spring. This surpasses the previous record of +10 degrees, recorded at the Hämeenlinna Katinen observation station just days prior.

Meteorological forecasts indicate that this week could be significantly warmer than usual, with predictions showing temperatures approximately 5 to 6 degrees higher across Finland. This unusual warmth is attributed to a very mild southwesterly flow bringing warmer air into the region. Tuesday was anticipated to be the warmest day of the week, although changes in weather patterns were expected to set in from Wednesday onwards, with more cloud cover and substantial precipitation anticipated in northern parts of the country.

Looking ahead, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts has issued a monthly forecast suggesting that spring-like weather may extend into March, potentially allowing for an earlier onset of the thermal spring in Finland. Typically, the thermal spring begins in southern Finland at the end of March and is widespread in northern regions during April, making this early warmth noteworthy in terms of seasonal weather patterns and implications for the environment and activities dependent on seasonal changes.
