Expo: Far-right activities are increasing the most in Stockholm County
A report indicates a resurgence in far-right activities in Stockholm County, despite the overall number being lower than in previous years.
According to a new report by Expo titled 'Svensk rasideologisk miljΓΆ 2025', participation in the annual Salem demonstration has seen a slight revival, with 200 attendees recorded in 2025. This is a stark contrast to its peak over two decades ago, when up to 2000 people participated. Expo emphasizes that despite the smaller participation numbers, the return of the march signifies a substantial event for far-right groups over the past year, marking a troubling trend in the region.
The report outlines that while the total number of far-right activities has decreased when compared to 10 years ago, there has been a noticeable uptick in certain areas recently. For instance, the 'Nordic Resistance Movement' had a peak of 3500 activities in 2018, which has dropped to 1465 in 2025. However, the report shows an increase from the years prior, indicating a growing presence of these movements.
Expo further notes that mainstream platforms such as Meta and X (formerly Twitter) have facilitated the spread and normalization of far-right ideologies, giving these groups an easier route to reach broader audiences. The ongoing Salem march highlights a division within these traditional far-right groups, which struggle to maintain momentum in the changing political landscape.
