The Indian government has initiated measures to address the LPG shortage that is adversely impacting hoteliers and traders across the country. Currently, in Delhi, many hotels and restaurants are dependent on commercial LPG cylinders, which typically have a stock limit of 2 to 3 days. However, as the supply chain has dried up, new cylinders are not arriving, leading to significant disruptions in food service at restaurants. This escalating issue highlights vulnerabilities within the supply chain that could affect the food and hospitality sectors in urban areas.

Manpreet Singh, a trustee of the National Restaurant Association of India, emphasized that while the situation in Delhi is not as dire as in Mumbai, it remains serious and concerning. He has formally communicated these challenges to Central Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. Singh pointed out that the current government focus appears to be on the supply of domestic cylinders, which inadvertently heightens the financial challenges faced by businesses relying on commercial supplies.
