“Worse than the Fate case”: Lácteos Verónica employees alert that the situation of the company has worsened

Employees of Lácteos Verónica report worsening conditions due to salary debts and halted production, prompting union action.

The situation at Lácteos Verónica, managed by the Espiñeira family and with production plants in Clason, Lehmann, and Suardi in Santa Fe province, is deteriorating significantly. As all production facilities remain idle, approximately 700 employees are facing severe financial distress due to unpaid salaries. As the company’s owners remain silent, provincial authorities believe that the issue should be resolved within the private sector rather than through governmental intervention.

Union leaders, particularly Domingo Possetto of Atilra Rafaela, have voiced strong concerns about what he describes as a 'real abandonment' of the firm by its owners. The current circumstances have resulted in increased hardship for employees who depend on their salaries for subsistence. With production halted and no indication of improvement from the Espiñeira family, the union fears that continued inaction could escalate the crisis and lead to more severe economic consequences in the region.

Consequently, the union has filed a formal presentation to the Ministry of Human Capital to seek governmental support or intervention, although the provincial government has signaled that it prefers to leave the resolution to the private sector. The implications of this crisis extend beyond the immediate financial impact on employees; it poses a significant risk to the local economy and social stability in Santa Fe, a region heavily reliant on dairy production.
