The gambling market in the country grew to 274.1 million euros in a year

Lithuania's gambling market reached 274.1 million euros last year, with significant contributions from lotteries and remote gambling.

In Lithuania, the gambling market experienced significant growth over the past year, climbing to 274.1 million euros. The report highlights that the lottery sector alone saw ticket sales amounting to 167.2 million euros, with total winnings paid out at 91.9 million euros. Meanwhile, remote gambling revenues increased by 19 percent, totaling 202.4 million euros, whereas the revenues from land-based gambling remained relatively stable at 71.7 million euros.

According to the data provided by the Lithuanian Gaming Control Authority (LPT), the gambling and lottery taxes contributed a substantial 86.9 million euros to the Lithuanian state budget last year. This tax income consisted of 29.3 million euros from major lottery organizers and 57.6 million euros from gambling operators, showcasing the financial importance of these sectors within the national economy.

The continuous growth in the gambling market raises important considerations regarding regulation and responsible gambling practices. As online platforms become increasingly popular, there is a need for appropriate oversight to mitigate risks associated with gambling addiction and ensure that revenues are used effectively for public goods, including health and education initiatives. This trend may have broader implications for policymakers in addressing the social impacts of gambling as participation grows among the population.
