Girl, 15, who died with boyfriend inside holiday park had 'headache' before bed

A 15-year-old girl, Cherish Bean, died alongside her boyfriend at a holiday park in what is suspected to be a case of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Cherish Bean, aged 15, and her boyfriend Ethan Slater, 17, tragically died while staying in a cabin at Little Eden Holiday Park in Bridlington the previous month. An inquest revealed that the couple had been on a family holiday, and the night before their deaths, both appeared to be healthy and in good spirits. However, as the night progressed, Cherish complained of a headache and after taking Calpol, returned to the smaller cabin known as the "Mancave" with her boyfriend.

The inquest conducted by Senior Coroner Professor Paul Marks disclosed that after spending time with her family, Cherish felt unwell and went to the smaller cabin with Ethan. Tragically, both died from what is believed to be carbon monoxide poisoning, a silent and deadly gas that often goes unnoticed until it's too late. The family was unaware of any danger in their accommodations, highlighting the risks associated with improper ventilation or gas appliances in holiday settings.

This incident raises critical awareness about carbon monoxide safety in holiday parks, especially in cabins where families expect to relax and enjoy time together. The suspected nature of the deaths has prompted calls for better safety protocols to ensure that such tragedies are less likely to occur in the future, reinforcing the importance of checking carbon monoxide detectors and maintaining awareness of potential gas hazards during vacations.
