Hegseth mentioned that the operations would feature the largest numbers of fighter jets, bombers, and airstrikes, with a commitment to continue until a complete and decisive defeat of the enemy is achieved, aligning with the U.S. timeline and strategy.

The press conference also raised questions about the timeline for the conflict's end, particularly following President Donald Trump's recent statement suggesting that military operations against Iran are 'very soon' coming to an end. Hegseth's earlier comments, which indicated a potential duration of three to eight weeks for the operation, added to the uncertainty surrounding the conflict's status. He clarified that it is not his place to determine whether the war has just begun, is in progress, or is nearing its conclusion, stating that such decisions are ultimately for the President to make.

Hegseth also issued a warning to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, advising against pursuing nuclear weapons development and suggesting that it would be wise to publicly acknowledge statements made by President Trump regarding nuclear ambitions. Additionally, General Dan Cain pointed out that the attacks on Iranian missile stockpiles and military infrastructure aim to deter the Iranian regime from future attacks on American interests and allies in the coming years.
