Avibras employees will analyze proposals for labor debts and factory resumption
Employees of Avibras are set to review new proposals for settling labor debts and resuming factory operations amidst ongoing judicial recovery efforts.
Avibras, Brazil's largest arms manufacturer, located in Jacareí, is currently under judicial recovery since 2022, and its employees are poised to assess new proposals concerning labor debts and the resumption of the factory's operations. Starting from Tuesday, October 10, workers will engage with plans aimed at addressing outstanding labor debts as the company seeks to revitalize its activities.
The Metalworkers' Union of São José dos Campos and surrounding regions has organized a support session for the employees at their headquarters in São José between October 10 and 11. There, staff will receive assistance regarding their individual compensation amounts. The session will include two days of dedicated time for employees to understand the proposed plans better—first on Tuesday from 2 PM to 5 PM and then on Wednesday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
Reports suggest that to facilitate the recommencement of operations later in March, Avibras plans to dismiss all approximately 900 employees and settle salaries in 48 installments. This strategy raises concerns among the workforce about job security and the firm's future while highlighting the broader challenges faced by industries struggling to recover from financial distress in Brazil.
