A recent survey shows that a significant portion of Italians support the idea of a common European army, provided that NATO is not abandoned.
A survey conducted by Youtrend ahead of the Festival del Sarà reveals that 43% of Italians consider a common European army desirable, though challenging to implement. While 50% of respondents who support the common army are adamant that the European Union should not sever ties with NATO, there is a strong sentiment in favor of collaborative military arrangements. Interestingly, 45% of Italians believe that increased investment in European defense is necessary, while 34% are opposed to this idea.
