Trial of those accused of killing delegate Marcelo Hercos in Aracaju is postponed
The trial of three individuals accused of murdering delegate Marcelo Hercos has been postponed due to a medical certificate presented by the defense attorney of the defendant charged with shooting Hercos.
The trial scheduled for Tuesday (10) at the Gumercindo Bessa Forum in Aracaju of three defendants accused of murdering police delegate Marcelo Hercos has been postponed. The postponement was prompted by the defense attorney's presentation of a medical certificate for a surgical procedure needed by the defendant who is alleged to have fired the gun that killed Hercos. As of now, a new date for the trial has not been confirmed by the court.
Delegate Marcelo Hercos was fatally shot in 2021 while attempting to thwart the actions of individuals allegedly passing counterfeit banknotes in Aracaju's Zona de ExpansΓ£o. Despite being hospitalized following the incident, he succumbed to his injuries. All suspects involved in the case remain incarcerated in the state of Sergipe, awaiting trial.
The widow of Marcelo Hercos, Bartira AlΓcia, expressed her grief over the loss of her husband nearly four years after his death. She emphasized that Hercos' murder impacted not only her life but also the lives of his family, friends, colleagues, and the society that believed in his commitment to justice.
