Government tries to postpone debate on classifying factions as terrorists until meeting between Lula and Trump
The Brazilian government is attempting to delay discussions in the United States about classifying local criminal factions as terrorist organizations until a scheduled meeting between President Lula and Donald Trump.
The Brazilian government is currently seeking to delay discussions in the United States regarding the potential classification of two major criminal factions, Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), as terrorist organizations. This request is especially critical as it comes ahead of an important meeting between Brazilian President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva and former U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. The Brazilian Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, has made a phone request to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, urging him not to forward the classification decision to the U.S. Parliament until after this high-level meeting.
