The Public Ministry of Mato Grosso do Sul (MPMS) has initiated a civil inquiry to investigate potential nepotism within the Rochedo City Hall, following allegations that relatives of public officials were preferentially hired for municipal positions. The inquiry was prompted by two complaints indicating that these hiring practices may violate principles of equality and impartiality mandated by the Brazilian Constitution.

One significant case involves a pharmacist who has been employed by the city since 2019 and is the daughter-in-law of the city’s mayor. Although her employment commenced before the current administration, the MPMS has noted that her contract has been renewed multiple times without going through the necessary simplified selection process, raising concerns about compliance with public hiring regulations.

Furthermore, the investigation extends to another civil servant, an administrative assistant, whose hiring circumstances are under scrutiny. The MPMS has mandated that the municipality terminate the contracts of these individuals within 30 days, highlighting the agency's commitment to upholding public ethics and preventing favoritism in local governance.
