CBI summons Vijay again in Karur stampede case, asks him to appear in Delhi on March 15
The CBI has summoned actor-turned-politician Vijay to appear in Delhi for questioning regarding the Karur stampede case on March 15.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has once again summoned Vijay, the actor-turned-politician and leader of the Tamilaga Vetrik Kazhagam (TVK) party, to appear for questioning at their headquarters in Delhi on March 15 regarding the Karur stampede case. Officials disclosed this information on Tuesday after Vijay had previously been questioned twice in January. Originally, he was scheduled to appear before the CBI on March 9, but he requested a two-week postponement citing political engagements related to upcoming assembly elections. In addition, he had urged that the questioning take place in Chennai or any office in Tamil Nadu instead of Delhi.
Despite this, the CBI has reiterated their requirement for him to present himself in Delhi. The investigation also includes questioning DMK legislator Senthil Balaji, who has been called in for questioning on March 17. Balaji has stated on an 'X' post in Tamil that he intends to provide clarifications regarding the Karur stampede case during his appearance on that date.
The Karur stampede incident occurred on September 27, 2025, during a rally held by Vijay in Karur, Tamil Nadu, resulting in the tragic loss of 41 lives and leaving over 60 others injured. This ongoing inquiry sheds light on significant security and organizational issues surrounding the events leading to the fatal incident.
