Registration for the 'Ignitis ON' Electric Car Race Continues β 31 Teams Already Among Participants
The 'Ignitis ON' electric car race will take place in June with 31 teams already registered, aiming to demonstrate the capabilities of existing charging infrastructure.
The twelfth edition of the 'Ignitis ON' electric car race is set to commence on June 12 in Kaunas at the 'Science Island' research center. The racers will stop at the Space Exploration Center in CΔsis, Latvia, before finishing at the AHHAA science center in Tartu, Estonia. Participants will need to choose between two tasks during the race: either reach Tartu as quickly as possible without violating traffic rules or cover the greatest distance within eight hours. With more than three months until the event, the registration is already open and the number of participants is rapidly increasing.
As of now, 31 teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and the UK have registered for the 'Ignitis ON' electric car race, with a maximum capacity of 70 teams. The principal partner, 'Ignitis ON,' has formed the largest contingent with six teams, while ABB and 'IF Insurance' have registered three teams each. The event not only serves as a competitive platform but also aims to highlight and prove the capabilities of the existing charging infrastructure in the region.
In addition to new participants, some teams that have previously competed will return, adding to the excitement and the competitive spirit of the race. This initiative is crucial for promoting electric vehicle usage and encouraging further innovation and development in charging technologies, making it a significant event in the context of sustainable transportation practices within the Baltic region and beyond.
