Masci wins anew and remains mayor
Carlo Masci has successfully retained his position as the mayor of Pescara after a repeat vote found no changes in the initial results.
In Pescara, a repeat election took place following irregularities identified by the Council of State, reaffirming the popular vote of June two years prior. The election in the Abruzzese municipality saw 23 out of 170 polling sections reopening, yet no significant changes were noted in the election outcomes. Carlo Masci, who gained the mayoral position with the support of a center-right coalition, has remained in power as attempts by the left to overturn the previous results were unsuccessful.
Masci's support solidified as the final counting revealed he garnered a substantial 56% of the votes, far exceeding that of his leftist rival, Carlo Costantini, who secured around 36%. The repeat vote confirmed the public's previous endorsement of Masci, which had seen him elected with 51% of the support at the first round two years ago. This victory reflects not only Masci's popularity but also the ongoing strength of the center-right coalition in local governance.
Regarding party representation, Forza Italia emerged as the leading party, claiming 24.4% of the votes, followed by FdI with 17.1% and other parties trailing behind. The results underscore a continuation of the political landscape in Pescara, marking a significant development for the center-right as they maintain influence at the municipal level amid efforts from the left to challenge their dominance.
