In a recent announcement, Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Lorenzo Fanara, detailed the efforts to repatriate a significant number of Italians amidst heightened security tensions in the region following Iranian threats. The repatriation operation involved the coordination of four teams that worked around the clock, with two groups deployed from the ambassador's residence and another two from official offices. Ambassador Fanara's wife, Sophie, has also been actively assisting in the operation, taking calls and providing support.
