Anthropic, Designated as a 'Supply Chain Risk' Company, Suing the Trump Administration
Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is suing the Trump administration for designating it as a 'supply chain risk company' and pushing to suspend federal contracts.
Anthropic, a US-based artificial intelligence firm known for its large language model 'Claude', has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration after being designated as a 'supply chain risk company', which jeopardizes its federal contracts. On September 9, Anthropic filed the lawsuit in federal court in Northern California against numerous federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, and high-ranking officials such as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The designation has been contested by Anthropic, who argues that the government's actions are unprecedented and illegal, claiming their business is threatened by the drastic measures taken against them due to their public stance against certain uses of AI, particularly in military applications.
