Meteorite fragments damaged the roof of a building in Germany

Fragments of a meteorite have damaged a residential building's roof in Koblenz, Germany, after a bright object was reported in the sky by numerous residents.

Residents across several German federal states reported seeing a bright object in the sky, which turned out to be fragments of a meteorite. The police received an emergency call about a house in Koblenz where they discovered a hole in the roof, with a diameter resembling a soccer ball. Fortunately, the bedroom where the meteorite struck was empty at the time, preventing any injuries.

Fire department spokesman Benjamin Marx confirmed that chemical and radiation tests were conducted on the site, with no abnormalities detected. This incident has drawn attention to the phenomenon of meteorites entering the Earth's atmosphere, illustrating both the potential dangers and the curiosity surrounding such occurrences.

While it is believed that the celestial body broke into several pieces during its descent, no additional fragments have been found so far. Officials have dismissed speculations that the event was related to a rocket or its debris, clarifying that this was indeed a meteorite fragment.
