HBO Follows in Netflix's Footsteps: Platform Takes Action Against Shared Accounts
HBO Max is taking steps to limit the sharing of accounts among users who do not live in the same household, following in the footsteps of other streaming services like Netflix.
HBO Max is implementing stricter measures to combat the sharing of accounts among individuals living outside the same household, a trend that follows the actions taken by Netflix and Disney Plus. As Warner Bros.' streaming service prepares to merge with Paramount+, it aims to enforce stricter regulations on password sharing. In a financial results presentation last August, JB Perrette, the company's streaming and gaming head, noted a shift in their approach, indicating that the previously soft messaging surrounding account sharing would become more stringent, requiring users to take definitive action.
