Venezuelans captured for carrying out the 'La Patrona' modus operandi: They allegedly robbed houses in CDMX

Two Venezuelan nationals were arrested in Mexico City for allegedly being part of a criminal cell involved in home robbery using the 'La Patrona' method, which drew attention after a notable robbery involving actress Susana Zabaleta.

A man and a woman from Venezuela were apprehended in Mexico City in connection with a criminal cell allegedly responsible for home burglaries utilizing the 'La Patrona' method. This method garnered notoriety when it was used in the October robbery of actress Susana Zabaleta's residence. The city’s security agency, the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC), confirmed that one of the arrested individuals, Ronny Antonio Marcano Gómez, aged 34 and nicknamed 'El Ronny', is believed to be the leader of this Venezuelan criminal group.

While the SSC provided specific details about Marcano, implications regarding the woman's involvement remain unclear, as further information about her identity and role was not disclosed. They were both taken into custody during a security operation on the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway and Rinconada Paseo de San Juan street in San Andrés Totoltepec. The police observed suspicious activity in a white vehicle where the suspects were located, heightening concerns about the ongoing issue of home invasions in the area.

The arrest of these individuals underscores the challenges law enforcement faces in combatting organized crime and home burglary, particularly as crime rates in urban settings like Mexico City continue to be a concern for residents and authorities alike. The 'La Patrona' method's specific approach to executing burglaries brings to light the need for greater public awareness and preventive measures against such criminal endeavors.
