Peruvian police links the gang 'Los Pulpos' to grenade attack in nightclub

The criminal organization 'Los Pulpos' from Peru is implicated in a grenade attack on the Dalí nightclub that injured 47 people, five seriously, according to police reports.

The Peruvian criminal organization known as 'Los Pulpos,' allegedly run from abroad by fugitive Jhonsson Smit Cruz Torres, has been linked to a grenade explosion at the Dalí nightclub in Trujillo this past Saturday. The attack resulted in 47 injuries, with five individuals reported in serious condition. On Monday, the national police chief in the northern region of La Libertad, Franco Moreno, indicated that the incident is associated with serious crimes including aggravated extortion, attempted homicide, and the use of military-grade weapons.

In a press conference, Chief Moreno detailed that authorities have made three arrests in connection with the attack, which included a minor, while also identifying a woman who allegedly brought the grenade into the nightclub and detonated it in the early hours of Saturday morning. This organized crime attack was calculated, with the group waiting for what they deemed an appropriate moment, around 3:30 AM local time, to execute the violent act.

The police are continuing their investigation to apprehend the identified woman and to gather more intelligence regarding the structure and operations of 'Los Pulpos.' This incident reflects the troubling rise of violent crime linked to organized gangs in the region, raising concerns among local authorities and the public about safety and the effectiveness of law enforcement in combatting such threats.
