The Nigerian Federal Government and the private sector are collaborating to enhance data protection and privacy standards through a signed Memorandum of Understanding.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken a significant step towards enhancing data protection across the nation by collaborating with the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA). This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at NACCIMA’s headquarters in Abuja. The agreement is aimed at promoting compliance with Nigeria's data protection regulations and fostering responsible data governance among businesses within the private sector.
During the signing ceremony, Vincent Olatunji, the National Commissioner and CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), emphasized that this partnership represents a pivotal moment in strengthening Nigeria’s data protection framework. The collaboration is designed not only to enhance awareness of privacy best practices among businesses but also to support the development of a more secure digital ecosystem for enterprises operating in Nigeria.
