Datafolha: Most Brazilians Get Political Information from TV Programs and Social Media

A recent Datafolha survey reveals that a majority of Brazilians rely on TV programs and social media platforms for political information.

According to a recent survey by Datafolha, most Brazilians prefer to stay informed about politics and elections through television and social media. The research indicates that 58% of respondents turn to TV for news, while 54% utilize social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). Additional sources of political information include news websites (26%), discussions with friends and family (21%), and YouTube channels (21%). Other forms of media such as podcasts, radio news programs, and both print and online newspapers share an equal representation at 14%. Only a small fraction, 10%, rely on messaging apps like WhatsApp or Telegram, and just 3% of those surveyed indicated that they do not use any media channels to stay informed about politics.
