Maintenance at treatment station is completed and water supply begins to normalize in Manaus
The water supply system in the eastern and part of the northern zones of Manaus is being restored following the completion of emergency maintenance at the Ponta das Lajes Water Treatment Station.
The water supply system in the eastern and northern zones of Manaus has commenced restoration following an emergency maintenance operation completed at the Ponta das Lajes Water Treatment Station on the 9th of October. The restoration of supply is expected to happen gradually over the affected areas, with full normalization anticipated by the early hours of October 10. This maintenance was critical to ensure that residents once again have access to a reliable water supply after recent disruptions.
The utility company responsible for the water supply, Águas de Manaus, stated that the maintenance involved the installation of reinforcement pumps at the station. These new pumps were brought in from the Ponta do Ismael Complex located in the western part of the city to replace equipment that had been affected during an electrical failure reported the previous Thursday, October 5. This swift action was necessary to mitigate the impact on residents who were experiencing disrupted water services in their areas.
Jessica Candeia, the Operations Manager at Águas de Manaus, mentioned that the complexity of the maintenance required the mobilization of a task force to restore the operation of the Ponta das Lajes. The task force was crucial for addressing the urgent situation timely, emphasizing the importance of efficient infrastructure in maintaining essential services such as water supply in urban areas. As the city moves towards a full restoration of water services, residents remain hopeful for a return to normalcy in their daily lives with uninterrupted water access.
