Live-action series of Tinkerbell, fairy from 'Peter Pan', is in production by Disney
Disney is producing a new live-action series centered around Tinkerbell from 'Peter Pan' for its streaming platform Disney+.
Disney has announced the production of a new live-action series titled 'Tink', focusing on Tinkerbell, originally from 'Peter Pan'. The show will be created for the Disney+ streaming platform, with Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter at the helm as writers and executive producers, alongside Gary Marsh and Quinn Haberman. The news was highlighted by Deadline, emphasizing the projectβs long-standing history as it was initially conceptualized as a film eleven years ago, with Reese Witherspoon attached to star as Tinkerbell.
The project underwent significant changes in development, particularly after the leadership shift at Disney in 2021 when Gary Marsh departed as president and chief creative officer to start his own production company. This transition led to a reevaluation of the 'Tink' project, ultimately pivoting it from a feature film to a streaming series. There remains uncertainty regarding the casting for the lead role of Tinkerbell in this new adaptation, as the search for a suitable actress is yet to be finalized.
Since her debut in the animated film of 1953, Tinkerbell has become a beloved character in the Disney universe, featuring in various works that expanded her story beyond the original narrative created by J.M. Barrie in his play 'Peter and Wendy'. The new series aims to further explore Tinkerbell's character and adventures, potentially contributing to the enduring legacy of this iconic fairy beyond the realms of feature films into serialized storytelling on a popular streaming platform.
