Justice Week for Peace at Home has a mobilization of hearings of domestic violence cases in AC
Over 130 hearings on domestic violence cases are scheduled during the 32nd Justice Week for Peace at Home in Acre.
The 32nd Justice Week for Peace at Home has commenced in Acre, Brazil, led by the State Justice Court (TJ-AC), with over 130 hearings planned that address various domestic violence issues including threats, psychological violence, and breaches of protective measures. This initiative spans from Monday through Friday and is part of the celebrations for Women’s Month, focusing on cases governed by the Maria da Penha Law aimed at protecting women from violence.
The program includes hearings not only in the capital city of Rio Branco but also in smaller municipalities such as Bujari, Capixaba, Cruzeiro do Sul, Feijó, Senador Guiomard, and Sena Madureira. The first action of the week took place in Feijó, highlighting a jury trial involving the murder of a 39-year-old woman, indicating the seriousness and urgent need for addressing domestic violence in the region.
Such initiatives are crucial as they aim to provide justice and protection for victims while raising awareness about domestic violence issues. The significant number of hearings scheduled signals the state’s commitment to tackling domestic violence, especially during the month dedicated to honoring and supporting women's rights and safety. It also underlines the ongoing challenges faced in executing the protective measures, with the context showing a strong need for legal intervention and support for victims in Acre.
