Two inmates arrested with marijuana in Boa Vista
Two inmates in Boa Vista were arrested for possession of marijuana by police during a routine patrol.
On December 9, in the neighborhood of Caimbé, Boa Vista, two inmates aged 40 and 31 were arrested by the Military Police for possession of marijuana. The incident occurred when police, conducting a patrol, observed the two men displaying nervous behavior as they attempted to hide their faces. One of the inmates was detained after entering a commercial establishment to evade the officers, where marijuana and a significant amount of cash were found during a personal search.
The police uncovered a package of marijuana and R$ 463 in cash on one individual, who claimed to work at the establishment while also selling drugs without his employer's knowledge. The other inmate was found in possession of a marijuana cigarette and R$ 170, as well as another precision scale in his bag. The police followed up with a check through the Division of Security and Capture (DICAP), which confirmed the individuals' prison status.
This arrest points to ongoing issues related to the underground drug trade within the city and raises concerns about the involvement of individuals under correctional supervision in illicit activities. The discovery of various items related to drug use and distribution underscores the need for enhanced monitoring and intervention to address drug trafficking and its societal repercussions in Boa Vista.
