Sérgio Ferreira, a 44-year-old businessman, tragically passed away after experiencing a cardiac arrest during the Ironman 70.3 Curitiba event, which took place on Sunday, March 8. Ironman events, known for their rigorous demands, include a distance of 113 km comprised of swimming, cycling, and running. According to event organizers, Ferreira fell ill during the cycling segment, prompting immediate medical attention from the support team. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Araucária, part of the metropolitan region of Curitiba.

The organization behind the Ironman competition released a statement expressing their condolences and support to Ferreira's family during this difficult time. They acknowledged the unfortunate circumstances surrounding his passing and confirmed that they are offering assistance to his loved ones.
